Platfontein Computer Centre Launch

2016-05-28 10:59 by Robin Roberts

Zelda has planned with the former Platfontein students who trained at Hilltop a massive marketing drive to make the centre known in both Platfontein and the surrounding communities of Galeshewe and Homevale of Kimberly, in addition to the training of students at the next door primary and high school. Advertizing pamplets were jointly designed by the former students of Hilltop guided by Zelda.

The centre will also launch its services to the community of faxing, interent, typing and photo-copying saving the cost of traveling to the city which they have been forced to do for many years.

The Department of Education supports the Platfontein centre! Mr. Alphonzo, head of the Curriculum Development of the Northern Cape Provincial Department of Education, as a follow up to his meeting with the Swiss Ambassador, attended the launch and made a few commitments. He is very excited about the new centre and in particular the Hilltop computer education programmes which he immediately made a commitment to use them at a few schools that would include Platfontein as a pilot projects to test the effectiveness in its application to overcome some serious learning problems in the schools throughout the province.

As a result there have been a series of departmental meetings for discussion and the offical implementation the date to be announced. In the meantime a further commitment of support was made to check on the availibility of learnerships so that former students now being trained as trainers could be paid a stipentd as a part of their trainng including some of the students of Platfontein as a part of the roll out plan.
